For adoptive families and Foster Care families in Allen County

This will be a time to connect with one another and to have fun as a family. (Swimming, racquetball, rock wall, basketball, kids area, and game room will all be open)

Social Event

Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 5:30. True Vine Ministries is hosting a fun, light, and enjoyable evening for Pathway adoptive parents and those interested in adoption. Come and meet other adoptive parents while eating snacks and connecting. This will be a good time to get to know others who have, or are currently adopting. It will also be a time for those interested to ask ANY questions you might have for adoptive families. Your children will be well cared for in Kid City during the Saturday evening service from 5:30 - 6:45. When you drop your kids off in Kid City, let them know you will be in the youth room for the True Vine Ministries.

Meet the Leadership Team

I thought I would introduce the True Vine Ministries Leadership Team. We began meetings in the spring of this year. The leadership team met to establish the name, mission, premise, and goals for this group. We meet every couple of months to take the next steps in advancing the group. The team includes:

Prayer Requests

I have a couple prayer requests on my mind, if you would join me in lifting these up to God:

*Mike U has been hospitalized with kidney problems (on leadership team)

*the last thing that Ryan and Laura B heard was that the birthmother changed her mind who her baby was to be adopted by

*Ryan and Melissa G were advised to not leave Saturday for their pick-up trip to Ethiopia, as their Cable 37 had not yet arrived at the National VisaCenter...pray that it arrives Friday

Basics of True Vine Ministries

WELCOME TO TRUE VINE MINISTRIES!

I am so excited to launch this, so we can communicate, connect, educate, and support each other. Please take time to look down the right side for a variety of resources, including supporting verses, contact information, events, adoption/fostercare resources, funding resources, joint application for Lifesong/PCC, list of those currently in process, books to borrow, and followers. I will keep these up to date, so stay tuned for new changes. Also see "labels" down the right side if you are looking up a certain topic, they will be broke down here. I will try to make a new post at least once a week, touching on a variety of topics. Also, feel free to leave and read comments under each post. This will be a great way to learn more about each other too. If you are not a blogger, you can go under "comments", type comment in box and include emails address if you want, choose "Anonymous", then "publish comment."

I thought I would include the premise and strategies of True Vine Ministries (also found on the PCC website under True Vine):

Premise: The world has over 140 million orphans. Though this number is staggering, it’s not beyond our capacity to impact significant numbers of children who are in need as we fulfill the mandate of scripture to defend the cause of orphans.

Strategy:
Caring for Children without Parents:

To respond to the mandate of caring for the orphans.

To provide individuals and families at Pathway Community Church with opportunities to support, interact with, and meet the needs of parentless children in our community, in our country, and around the world.

To network with other churches, ministries and orphanages, and to create alliances that support the cause of caring for the orphan.

To amplify the voice of the orphan to the greater body of Pathway Community Church through initiatives that serve to create a deeper understanding of the biblical mandate to care for the orphan, and to provide tangible ways to carry out such a mandate.

Facilitating Adoption and Foster Care:

To increase the awareness of the opportunities for adoption and foster care.

To inspire God’s people to step into a faith-filled adventure of adoption and foster care.

To educate families moving toward adoption by providing mentoring, networking opportunities and resources to assist them in the process.

To celebrate the stories of adoption and foster care with the body of Christ.
